“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” Colossians 3:23

World Book Day

Lesson: Literacy

We have enjoyed a fabulous World Book Day 2020. We started with a whole school assembly with Author Jo Welch. Jo told us all about her childhood and the books that inspired her to become a writer. Each class was lucky enough to work with Jo. Class 1 listened to her read the Gruffalo and shared some of their favourite stories. Class 2 listened to one of Jo’s children’s favourite stories, Claude in the city. We had a go at copying some of the art from the story in the style of the illustrator. Class 3 enjoyed a code breaking workshop which focused on the books Jo has written. They covered 2000 years of code breaking history including Elizabeth the 1st, Julius Ceaser, Alan Turing and modern day spies. We then enjoyed a whole school book swap and each chose a new book to take home. What a wonderful day!
