Specialist Sports Funding
St John's will receive a transitional payment in autumn 2026, and then the sport's funding ceases.
The impact of this funding in previous years has been to increase the variety and quality of sports we offer both during curriculum time and after school activities. We achieve this by using the funding to employ the services of professional sports coaches, who also deliver CPD training to staff. The funding has also helped the school to improve performance in competition. Due to the funding we achieved the Gold Sainsbury's Sports Award in July 2018, which was maintained until July 2025 when we were thrilled to receive the Platinum Award.
This current school year, as well as providing coaches, we will use funding to ensure staff have high quality CPD, to continue Forest Schools and to further develop the health and wellbeing of all the children within the school, during lessons and in after school clubs.
