British Science Week
Lesson: Science
Monday- Today, Mrs Van delivered a wonderful assembly to introduce British Science Week. This year's theme is Curiosity.
Tuesday - Reception had a visit from a nurse where the children learned about how to keep healthy and germs. They even got to dress up a teddy bear in a gown, and use special equipment.
Class 2 took part in a science experiment and had a visit from farmers. They loved asking questions and finding out what it takes to be a farmer.
Class 3 enjoyed a mentos science experiment. There was HUGE excitement and cheer when the coke bottle exploded!
Wednesday- Simon Owen visited Class 4 today to talk to us about his job as a nuclear physicist. We learned a lot and the children asked some very interesting questions. We also had great fun making doodlers using our knowledge of circuits.
Class 3 had a wonderful time learning about jobs in aquatics and how we can work together to look after our water systems. They also enjoyed a floating and sinking experiment!
Thursday- Peter Webb, a STEM ambassador and geologist came to visit Class 4 this morning. We had a talk all about our 'Violent Earth', learning all about earthquakes, volcanoes, mudslides, floods and landslides. The children learned so much, and they asked wonderful questions.
Class 3 also enjoyed an incredible talk from Peter Webb, the children learned about rocks, minerals, fossils and soil, which included lots of hands on learning.
Friday- This morning, in Class 4 we had a visit from Mrs Millington who spoke to us about her interesting work as a chemist.
We finished off our Science Week in style! This week's Celebration Assembly focused on all our wonderful STEM learning. We shared what we had done in our classes with each other.
